It's not often enough that we see TGM games make it to the headlines. Player Kashiwa0903 has set a new world record in the notoriously difficult "Death" mode.

further discussion: http://harddrop.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5615 11th comment. 1st comment is now gone: Comment by Integration on June 22, 2013, 11:10 pm Hm ... does a Youtube video qualify as "headlines"? I find it more interesting, that Jtadore subbed 30 in Cultris 2. It's the first sub 30 with 1 preview as far as I know. 1 PREVIEW WORLD RECORD!!! That's headlines.

I've never seen TAP denote "Tool-Assisted Play." I believe you're thinking of TAS, "Tool-Assisted Superplay/Speedrun."
Comment by caffeine on July 6, 2013, 1:30 pm
@WillyTris, it does, but in this case it stands for "Tetris The Absolute The Grand Master 2 PLUS."
Comment by WillyTris on July 4, 2013, 1:10 pm
TAP does not mean Tool-Assisted-Play?

I didn't say, it's not newsworthy. I said first sub 30 with 1 preview is more newsworthy.

I find it newsworthy specifically because it's notoriously difficult; every single person who has played this mode has had their butt torn in half by it, dozens of times over. It isn't popular but not much more can be done about that. Surely a new world record in Shirase mode would be just as newsworthy.

Xael is troll. Or has the "new Xael" totally renounced trolling?

Integration is wrong.

Why was I rude? I didn't intend to talk down that performance. I just criticized Caffeine's wording (I could swear the formulation was a bit different when I commented), simply for the reason that it didn't make it to the headlines (at least outside of Japan). How could it? It's just a mode on a Japanese-only Arcade machine. Most people won't know TGM2+ or its rules, but nearly every Tetris player knows 40 line sprint. First sub 30 with 1 preview is more newsworthy in my opinion.

This sort of condescendent attitude is rude and not worthy of any Tetris player. Beating Death mode is a huge feat itself and getting sub-5min is something only Superman can do (most people are around 6min). Keep in mind you have to sustain the same level of concentration as you do in any 40 line challenge, but for 5 long minutes. All the while battling the notoriously challenging ARS system and the reduced mobility of 20G. I dare you to just get to level 500 in Death.
