Pacific Business News reports,

"We felt that this move was necessary because we could achieve our current business goals with a smaller team and greater efficiency," Hirata said. "We don't have plans to pursue additional layoffs at this time."

Fred Delse has been promoted as the company's new president, with Minoru Arakawa shifting his role to chairman and CEO. The company cut 40% of its staff, including some from the "production team responsible for developing games for Facebook." It is unclear at this time what this could mean for Tetris Battle, among other games.
