"its amazing what stories people you know have that you might never hear. i saw james clewett around the physics building in nottingham many times, but never would i have suspected that he was the 1999 tetris world champion!?! brady captures the interesting story and james' personality very well in this short (18 min) film: "

hi Sisu, yes, single credit on an Atari machine. You can rotate either way, but I tend to single mindedly rotate clockwise. You can play as many times as you like. On that game the start difficulty is basically irrelevant, since it simply brings you into the game at level 5, which is a drop in the ocean of the total, so take your pick. I don't recall my line count, I was only interested in the score. For some reason I am thinking 1600 ish, but that might be way off. Hope you're enjoying playing classic tetris :)

Did you set your record on an Atari machine? like this: http://harddrop.com/wiki/Tetris_%28Atari%29 Did the machine you used have CW rotate, CCW rotate, or both? Did you set your record on one credit? Was one credit the Twin Galaxies requirement? How many attempts were you allowed? Which starting difficulty setting did you use for your record: easy, medium, or hard? Do you remember what level you were at when you set you record or how many lines you had?

My conclusion is that he will be rudely awakened if he didn't know anyone from harddrop before this interview.

I'll probably be interrailing for most of the summer, but I'll be free for the next month or two, and September. Either way I'll be hosting a Tetris meet in Cambridge sometime, probably mid-December.

My sister has a flat near london so anything is possible =P. I'm terrible at classic tetris though, don't have the tap speeds

You can switch off the piece shadow by using the rule editor. Run ruleeditor.bat, open the rule you want to edit, untick Ghost (you may also want to untick spawn above ceiling as well), save the rule.
