"(HONOLULU – March 17, 2010) Henk Rogers, the entrepreneur responsible for bringing the Tetris video game to the United States and world market, will present “Games and Global Warming: A Vision for Doing Well and Doing Good,” at the Pappas Spring Entrepreneurial Leadership Talk.

The event, hosted by the Hawai‘i Pacific University College of Business Administration, will be held from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 1. The HPU community and public are invited.

As president and CEO of Blue Planet Software, Inc., Rogers is considered a visionary of computer games. Under his leadership, Tetris has sold more than 125 million copies and is one of the world’s top-selling games. He founded Blue Planet Software in 1995 to manage Tetris and has kept it in the forefront of casual gaming by continuously improving its design.

He currently has three new start-up software development companies including Tetris Online, Blue Lava Technologies, and Avatar Reality. In 2007, he established Blue Planet Foundation, the frontline organization in the fight for indigenous renewable energy in Hawai‘i.

“Following a heart attack in 2005, Henk re-evaluated the purpose of his life’s work,” said Dr. Bee-Leng Chua, of the College of Business Administration. “He is determined to end use of carbon-based fuel on the planet, starting with fossil fuel use in Hawai‘i, his adopted home.”

Marilyn and Jim Pappas have made the Pappas Entrepreneurial Series possible with their generous sponsorship. Their contribution enables students and the community to meet entrepreneurs and gain insights for developing entrepreneurial skills and mindset that are essential for career success.

"... continuously improving its design." Hahahahaha, that's a great one. That said, I think it is cool that Henk does what he does with Blue Planet Foundation.
